Tributes to, and remembrances of, the late, great Drake Hogestyn continue to pour in. One of the latest hails from Patrika Darbo (Nancy Wesley).
Patrika Darbo Remembers Drake Hogestyn
The actress posted a most touching video on Instagram in which she mused: ““I’m sitting here contemplating the fact that we lost Drake Hogestyn. I’m going try not to cry at this part, but as many of you know, when I first started on DAYS, I weighed about 240 pounds. And when I first saw Kevin Spiritas was supposed to be my husband, I was sure that they had hired the wrong woman, but they hadn’t.
“To all of the fans who kept me on the show, something you may not know was that Drake Hogestyn, because I was feeling like I don’t belong, and I’m not fitting (in with) the soap opera ladies that were there before me, came up to me and he said, ‘Patrika, you’re part of the family now and I wanted to welcome you.’ So please know, that as wonderful as he was an actor, being a human being, he was the best.
“He always made me feel like I was one of the divas, even though I was a size 2-0 and everybody else was a 2. So may Drake rest in peace knowing how loved he was and many condolences to his family. I felt everybody needed to know that he was a wonderful actor, a fabulous human being, and he loved his fans more than anything in the world, but he also loved his castmates and I was one of them. So, God bless Drake. May he rest in peace and may he know the legacy that he left at DAYS is ongoing.”

Stacy Haiduk (Kristen DiMera) and Eric Marsolf (Brady Black) were but two of the many who offered comment on Darbo’s post. The former wrote: “I feel you! And so agree!” while the latter offered: “Such a beautiful testament to his soul.”
Hogestyn passed on September 28th after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer, one day shy of his 71st birthday.
He is survived by his of 37 years, Victoria Post Hogestyn, their four children: daughters Whitney, Alexandra, and Rachel, and son Ben and their partners, as well as seven grandchildren.
