Though it was indeed done with a heavy heart, Fiona deftly framed Brady (Eric Martsolf, Days of our Lives) for mowing down daughter-in-law Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) rather than face the music — and according to performer Serena Scott Thomas, the guilt is eating away at her.
Serena Scott Thomas Talks Fiona’s Criminal Move
She granted to Soap Opera Digest that: “Coming up with the plot to make it look like Brady was driving is fiendish… profoundly malevolent. It really is devious to the point of evil.”
But, of course, there’s a method to that malevolence, namely, Fiona’s fear of forever losing Xander (Paul Telfer), the son she finally managed to reunite with after lo those many years apart. That’s the thing she fears most,” concluded the actress.
Still, Fiona’s certainly feeling a certain way about letting Brady take the fall for her crime. Said Serena Scott Thomas: “I mean, that’s just awful. It’s this awful sort of prevarication between [continuing to lie and], ‘Do I tell the truth? Do I own up to this dreadful, dreadful thing and my son will never speak to me again? I’ll be outcast and will lose this most treasured thing that I thought I had regained.’ The stakes are very very high for Fiona.”
