Kate Mansi (Kristina Corinthos, General Hospital) and her love, film producer Matt McInnis, spent the leadup to Independence Day taking their romance to a whole new level.

The actress took to Instagram Stories on Wednesday to show off her diamond sparkler confirming the engagement. Some 24 hours later, McInnis posted a snuggly photo of the two on his own account with the caption: “Apparently today is a holiday, but I think July 3rd was even better.”

Congratulations were very much in order, and Mansi’s play sister, Kristen Vaganos (Molly Lansing-Davis), was one of the first to issue them. She wrote, “The best news to ever hit the internet !!!!!”
