Kelly Monaco (ex-Sam McCall) has wadded into a squabble between fans to clear up some misinformation concerning her exit from General Hospital.
Kelly Monaco Responds To Harsh Criticism

When one poster insisted on X that Frank Valentini (GH’s executive producer) had a “personal vendetta against Kelly” which resulted in a “hostile workplace,” another chimed in declaring that: “[Kelly Monaco was] fired for her actions. There was no vendetta. She did this herself. She phoned in her performances for YEARS. She thought she had more power than she did.”
Monaco responded to the accusation thusly: “I do have more power than a “job” it’s my voice, my experience, my truth. You can beat someone down, until they finally find the power within themselves to recover with grace and dignity. Those whom choose to bully behind their power, will suffer their own consequences.”

The Long Road To Kelly Monaco’s Final Day At GH

Rumors swirled in August that Monaco had been fired from the ABC sudser and that her alter-ego would meet an untimely fate sometime in the fall. The actress’s fans immediately mobilized to convince TPTB to reconsider the decision, employing online petitions, and billboards, and placing calls to both the GH Comment Line and the ABC Comment Line.
Monaco’s mother, Carmina Monaco, confirmed on X that a final scene had indeed been filmed and that Monaco had cleared out her dressing room. She penned: “I want to take this moment to reach out to Kelly’s incredible fans and express my deepest gratitude for the unwavering love, loyalty, and support you’ve shown her throughout her time on General Hospital. On this final day, just four days shy of the anniversary of her first episode on October 1, 2003, Kelly will close the door of her dressing room for the last time.
“This moment is a difficult one, but knowing that she has had such an incredible, devoted fan base has given her strength. You’ve stood by her through every twist and turn, celebrating her achievements and providing comfort in the hard times. Your love and dedication have meant more than words can express, not only to Kelly but to all of us who care so deeply for her. Thank you for being there, for believing in her, and for reminding her of the impact she’s made. We will always be grateful for you standing with her through it all.”

In early October, Monaco uploaded a snap of her alongside play family — Kate Mansi (Kristina Corinthos Davis), Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis), and Kristen Vaganos (Molly Lansing-Davis) — which she captioned: “Last scene with the Davis girls. [Still] doesn’t make any sense to me.”
On her final day on set, Monaco gave an emotional address to the cast and crew. She said in part: “I’ve been on this lot for 25 years, and you have all been my family — not only my second family but my first family. And I just thank each and every one of you for all these memories and this experience that I’ll take with me for the rest of my life.”
In a previous, since-deleted post, Monaco termed her dismissal, “retaliation at its finest.”
