With the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards show fast approaching, the gaggle of nominees is being rounded up and put under the microscope. When they learned and how they learned that their performances were for the gold, what thoughts sped through their heads, what they\u2019ll wear to the kudos fest, who they\u2019ll thank when they\u2019re at the podium \u2014 seemingly nothing is off limits.<\/p>\n
Despite the ten previous nominations under her belt, this isn’t old hat for Finola Hughes (Anna Devane, General Hospital<\/em><\/a>). During an exclusive chat with\u00a0Soap Opera Digest<\/em><\/a> she proffered, “When you do get a nod, it means to me, it includes the writing and the direction and the work comes together for someone else. Ultimately, it\u2019s what we\u2019re doing this for\u2014we hope we resonate with the audience, and when it resonates with your peers, I think that\u2019s incredibly special. It can\u2019t be overstated how special it is to get that nod.\u201d<\/p>\n Admittedly bad at putting together an acting reel, Hughes cops to calling in a ringer: “One of my producers [Michelle Henry] helped me…There was a story a few months ago where I accidentally shot a 15-year-old [Charlotte; Scarlett Fernandez] because it was Halloween and I didn\u2019t recognize them, and that storyline hit Anna hard because she\u2019s law enforcement and that\u2019s the last thing you want to be doing. I used a lot of that material.”<\/p>\n On her fellow nominees:\u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve known most of them, but haven\u2019t known Annika [Noelle; Hope Logan, The Bold and the Beautiful<\/em>] very long. Michelle [Stafford; Phyllis, The Young and the Restless<\/em>] and I spoke almost immediately and we decided we\u2019re going dress shopping together. Katherine Kelly [Lang; Brooke Logan, B&B], yes, I\u2019ve known for a long time and it\u2019s just wonderful we are nominated the same year; and Cynthia [Watros; Nina, GH] is on my show and her work is outstanding. And Tamara [Braun; Ava Vitali, Days of our Lives<\/em>; ex-Carly Corinthos and ex-Kim Nero, GH] was on our show for a while, and I just think she\u2019s incredible, too. It\u2019s really good company.\u201d<\/p>\n On whether she’ll prepare a speech or wing it: “I would wing it.
