Tom Arnold, probably best known for playing Arnie Thomas in Rosanne opposite his then real-life missus Roseanne Barr and sidekick to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s character in True Lies, will be guest starring in The Bold and the Beautiful this summer.
Tom Arnold COMING To B&B
Per US Weekly, the actor/comedian is scheduled to make his two-show debut on Tuesday, July 30. His Captain Deuce Stevens will appear in scenes opposite Thorsten Kaye’s Ridge, Katherine Kelly Lang’s Brooke, and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood’s frazzled Steffy.
“It was great fun!” Arnold gushed to the outlet. “People love The Bold and the Beautiful. The loyalty, the fans, the opinions … I started going online and listening to fans argue about certain things. It’s like sports…
“Every 12 minutes, The Bold and the Beautiful does another scene. It’s a well-oiled machine. They’re just so on top of their stuff”
Just as the CBS sudser made quite the impression on Arnold, he left leading man Kaye with an anecdote to spread far and wide. “I was in makeup and this guy comes in and goes, ‘Hey, can I get you anything?’ I go, ‘I don’t know, do you have Sugar Free Red Bull?’ This guy who I thought was the crew — he had a very hard handshake — was Thorsten. The rich, wealthy father [Ridge]!” Imagine!
No stranger to the wild and wacky, wonderful world of soaps — he played Billy Boggs to Roseanne’s Jennifer Smith in several episodes of General Hospital — and a confessed fan of the genre since his school days, Arnold had nothing but praise for the folks at B&B, MacInnes Wood in particular.
“Roseanne and I loved soap operas. [After I was on GH], we ended up having all these folks on [Roseanne] from the show on. Because soap operas are very good actors [sic]. They don’t mess around…
“[Jacqueline] had to do some Lucy stuff with the comedy, ripping stuff out of her bag. … It’s not easy when you have props and you have to do this and this, but it worked.”
If Arnold has his way, Captain Stevens will return to fly the Forresters another day. In the meantime, he plans to brag incessantly to his young’uns. “I’m a single dad with an 11-year-old and an 8-year-old. I’m just gonna keep repeating, ‘I was on The Bold and the Beautiful’. They’re always like, ‘Dad, you’re old.’ Dude, I was on The Bold and the Beautiful! You don’t get on there unless you are bold and beautiful.”
