It’s all change at Days of our Lives. Brandon Barash, who’s been a part of the cast (on and off) since 2019, playing either surly, swaggering Stefan DiMera or his uncouth twin brother Jake, has been shown the door most unceremoniously.
Brandon Barash OUT At DAYS
Though Stefan’s last episode is scheduled to stream on Monday, October 28, due to DAYS’ accelerated tapping schedule, the (metaphorical) axe was swung at Barash some seven months ago.
In an exclusive interview with Soaps.sheknows, Barash relayed that he, “knew exactly what was happening as soon as I was called up to [co-executive producer Janet Spellman-Drucker’s] office. She said, ‘Look, this is not my doing. I don’t like it. And this is no reflection on you or your abilities. You’re very talented. We know your work ethic is very high, but it’s just where we’re deciding to take the character.’ ”

The actor went on to disclose that he “was in the middle of a contract” and characterized the news as “a surprise” and a “gut punch.” Still, he “walked out of the office equal parts shocked and excited about what was around the corner.”
And good things are indeed on the horizon. He’ll still be taking to the stage on Saturday, Nov. 2, for the annual Day of DAYS extravaganza, and he and his bandmates — fellow DAYS stars that make up The Day Players — have a jam-packed touring scheduled throughout the new year. And then there’s the little matter of an upcoming meeting with some suits from Hallmark!
As for whether or not he’d ever consider a return to DAYS, Barash ruefully mused: “I don’t know, this is the second time this has happened to me at Days of our Lives. And, you know, it would, it would have to be very, very right. The terms would have to be right. The story would have to be right, the contract would have to be right and I would have to be able to trust them and I don’t. I’ve lost that.
“I’ve lost that ability to trust that team, quite frankly. And, you know, I think of it as, you know, when I make a business decision, first and foremost, I have to trust the person I’m going into business with. And I wouldn’t go into a marriage with a woman who I felt when the going got tough, she would just leave and the same goes for business.”
