Louise Sorel (Vivian Alamain) has been blasting away nuisances, burying enemies alive, and bowling over fans since making her debut in Days of our Lives in 1992 — but to what does she attribute her alter-ego’s longevity and status as one of the sudsers most beloved characters despite her, at times, heinous villainy?
Louise Sorel On Vivian’s Patented Villainy
Explained the actress during a recent interview uploaded to the DAYS Instagram page: “What I found in playing what we call a ‘villain’ is that you don’t play a villain because you think what you’re doing is appropriate and right, so you don’t think you’re a villain. You’re doing exactly what needs to be done.
“And, hopefully, I also injected humor in it, because I don’t think a human being is anything without some humor. You have to have humor because that’s what life is — comical, sad etc. But you never play a villain. You do what you need to do to get what you want.” And boy, does Vivian get what she wants…usually!
