The recent rash of return announcements (first Stephen Schnetzer, then Gloria Loring) left us little doubt that the Days of our Lives team was teeing up Doug Williams’ passing and funeral. Now comes confirmation alongside a tantalizing tease.
Doug Williams, And Bill Hayes, To Be Remembered
“With Bill Hayes’ passing, the show is doing a special celebration for the life and memory of the character he portrayed for so many years,” a series spokesperson relayed to Soap Opera Digest.
“Doug William’s funeral is giving us the opportunity to welcome some important and fan-favorite, legacy characters back to Salem, including Gloria Loring, Stephen Schnetzer, and more. The episodes taping this week include Doug’s funeral and the historic 15,000th episode. They will not air until December 2024.”
The statement’s promise for “more” returnees certainly won’t go unnoticed by fans, who’ve most certainly formed opinions on who should put in an appearance. Our bet on the character chief among the lists: Hope Williams Brady (Kristian Alfonso), Doug’s darling daughter.
