Chad has his Abigail back on Days of our Lives but this road to rekindled romance is paved with nothing but drama. We caught up with Billy Flynn and got his thoughts on this sensational storyline…and we got the inside scoop on what’s to come.
Billy Flynn Dishes on Chad & Abigail
This week, the DNA came back and the proof was in the pudding. The mystery woman is, in fact, the dearly not-so-departed Abigail! With this storyline a long time in the making, we had to ask how Flynn felt when he was told his TV wife would be resurrected once again. “Chad and Abigail is such an important love story to me,” Flynn tells us.
His only hesitation was that he wanted the return to happen in the right way. “It was the strike writers who started this storyline. I was excited but I wanted to know what that was going to look like. I didn’t want to do it if it wasn’t the right way,” Flynn explains. “But, at the same time, when I read with AnnaLynne, she was amazing. She made me even more excited because she’s so wonderful.”
Of course, this reunion is definitely not going off without a hitch. “The person Chad remembers is NOT who he found,” Flynn teases. “She doesn’t look the same, she doesn’t act the same, and Chad is skeptical.” As he should be! It’s not every day your wife comes back from the dead for a third time!
The test won’t bring as much peace as people think. “Originally Jack was supposed to be skeptical and Chad was going to go all-in. But, after talking with Matt [Ashford], we switched it because he’s got the love of a father,” Flynn explains. “After the DNA test, he’s going to believe her and take care of her. Chad, though, won’t be so sure. He needs to see the way she flips her hair, the ways she blinks, all those things Chad would know. He needs to see that.”
One of the biggest obstacles Chad faces is how to tell his children their mother is alive. “It’s going to be a very slow process,” promises the actor. “They’ll be the last to know. Other characters are going to remind Chad of why he should tell his kids but he won’t want to until he’s sure…and until Abigail remembers them.”
AnnaLynne McCord is the third powerhouse player to take over the role of Abigail which brings a whole new level to this love story. Billy Flynn shares his thoughts on what that looks like to him. “What Kate [Mansi] and I had was more young and passionate. What the characters became with Marci [Miller] was soulmates and friends. With AnnaLynne, we’ll have to see what happens. It’ll be different.”
