We thought we were prepared for the emotional rollercoaster that was coming with Sam McCall’s death and Kelly Monaco’s exit. We truly did. But, then we watched Alexis fall apart, Jason say his heartbreaking goodbye, Dante’s tearful farewell, and now the children coming to terms with her death. General Hospital sure knows how to hit us where it hurts.
The Death of Mommy Sam McCall
It was hard enough on Friday watching Jason (Steve Burton) tell the kids that Sam was gone. Little Scout (Cosette Abinante) simply did not want to believe it. Her mother gone? No, it couldn’t be! Today, it wasn’t any easier for the little girl. How many times will this tiny human have to say goodbye to her parents?

Sweet Scout is still little enough for trick-or-treating, Santa magic, and the tooth fairy. She should be living in a land of magic and make-believe and all things rainbows and pretty pink sparkles. Instead, she seems to be stuck in a continual loop of losing the people she loves.
Just think about it, she spent the better part of her childhood believing her daddy was dead. Then, Drew (Cameron Mathison) came home and she had to get to know him all over again. For years, the only parent she had was Sam (Kelly Monaco) and that little girl loved her fiercely.
What’s Next For Scout on General Hospital?
Now, she’s facing a new reality where her mom is gone and the dad she kinda-sorta still doesn’t know is all she has left. A dad who is running for office, having an affair with his niece-in-law, and hasn’t actually spent a whole lot of time with her since coming home.
This is a tragic twist for this little tot. We have to wonder what her future holds. Will she move in full-time with her father and become a daddy’s girl like Charlotte is with Valentin? Will Drew ship her off to boarding school? Perhaps she will move in with family while daddy is busy living his life.
Whatever comes Scout’s way, we hope time will heal this gaping wound. Losing her mommy so young is not something any child should live through…and something too many children in Port Charles know all about.
