Yesterday, we pondered just who it was that absconded with all of Ava Jerome’s lovely money (and we even clobbered together a few prime suspects); today, we got a concrete answer. It was the Cassadines. As in more than one Cassadine. But here’s the rub, what Cassadines are left to challenge Ava and Nikolas’ divorce decree? Is General Hospital planning to introduce some new branches to the previously established family tree?
From Where Do These New Cassadines Hail?
When the family of megalomaniacs was first introduced, it consisted of Prince Mikkos Ivanovich, Anthony, and Victor. Mikkos’ widow, Helena, slinked into Port Charles a bit later, and the soap subsequently introduced Petros, Dimitri, Stavros, and Stefan (not to mention Alexis and Irina). There was also a Sophia Cassadine-Davidovitch.
At last count, Mikkos, Tony, and Victor were (supposedly) dead. Ditto Helena, Stavros, Stefan, Irina and Petros. Sophia, for her part, never seemed much interested in the machinations of her kin as she was happily (or, at least, contentedly) married to Mr. Davidovitch.
So, that would seem to identify Dimitri, or one of his sires, as the fly in Ava’s ointment. And that does make a modicum of sense, seeing as how this particular Cassadine has been dining out on the fortune he stole from the Quartermaines for some decades now. Maybe the readies have all dried up, and the hope is to recoup the losses by taking Nikolas’ share of the family’s legacy.
Then again, GH could be planning to introduce a whole host of other relatives with no connection whatsoever to the aforementioned Cassadines. It’s certainly happened before. Why rely on established history when you can just make it up as you go along?
In fact, why even write a story that makes logical sense? While I’m not a lawyer (nor do I play one on TV), I’m fairly certain that it’s nigh on impossible for a family member to simply step in and have a divorce settlement vacated.
Oh well, we can but watch and see…
