Sam McCall took her last breath on General Hospital last week and Port Charles hasn’t been the same since. It’s clear Kelly Monaco’s presence as Sam is missed, especially by fans. Don’t fret, though, there is a path to bring her back one day if they so choose.
Sam McCall Isn’t One Of A Kind…
Let us take you back to 2005 when Monaco wasn’t just playing Sam McCall…she was also playing Alicia Montenegro! For those who need a refresher, Alicia is the daughter of baddie extraordinaire Allegra Olsen (Meg Bennett). Allegra had Alicia all set up with an arranged marriage to her lover, Andrew Olsen but when her daughter balked, she locked her in a room and forced lookalike Sam to take her place.

Allegra’s big mistake was overtaking Jason (Steve Burton) and locking him in the room with her daughter. She had no idea he’d be resourceful. She also didn’t foresee her plan going all wrong and Andrew figuring out Sam wasn’t his true fiancé. The storyline went sideways, Jason was forced to shoot Andrew, Allegra went on the run, and Sam set up Alicia for a life behind bars. It was all very messy….and fun.
So, yes, Sam has a long-forgotten doppelgänger just waiting in the shadows to make her return to the scene. But, will the show go down this route? We’d like to think so! In fact, we’ve come up with a twist that will fix it all!
A General Hospital Body Double
What if Alicia had resurfaced recently and overtook Sam’s life? It would make sense that Sam hadn’t been acting quite herself pre-surgery. She’s been distant from her family and not as involved in the drama as she usually is. Just look at how long it took her to get tested to see if she was a match?
Alicia would have seen the transplant as a way to get in better with the family fold and make “Sam” a hero. Plus, it would serve her well if the truth ever got out. They wouldn’t be able to stay mad after learning she saved Lulu’s life, right? What she wasn’t counting on was having a heart attack and dying after.
So, if this is true, then where is Sam? Is she locked away once again by Allegra? Just imagine poor Sam stashed somewhere fighting for her freedom while every single person who loves her thinks they are mourning her death? We have no doubt Sam will find a way to save herself and when she does, it will be a day to celebrate.
