While there were doubtless many surprised to see General Hospital‘s Dex Heller breathing his last on Friday, December 13, it may come as a shock to hear that it wasn’t Evan Hofer’s decision to vacate the role he first assayed in May 2022.

The actor told Soaps.sheknows that he was set down by EP Frank Valentini and told, “That’s where the story was going. I was like, ‘How’s it happening? [Does Dex go out] in a cool way? What’s the story going to be after?’ That was kind of my chief concern.”
Despite the understandable disappointment, Hofer is taking it all in stride. “With these kinds of things, you never know,. I’ve been shot twice. I’ve been in danger plenty… You never really know if this is the time that your character’s luck is going to run out.”
As for who/what he’ll miss the most, it’s absolutely “the people…You know, they call me the mayor of Prospect Studios [where General Hospital tapes] because I really, really was friends with everybody and got to know so many incredible people there… everybody who works upstairs in the offices, everybody on set, everybody downstairs, hair and makeup… I’m going to miss seeing my friends every day.”

* A quartet of talented femmes from The Young and the Restless — Courtney Hope (Sally Spectra), Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Lawson), Elizabeth Hendrickson (Chloe Mitchell), and Hayley Erin (Claire Grace) — recently put their own spin (literally!) on the song (plus accompanying choreography) ‘What Is This Feeling?’ by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo from their hit musical film Wicked.

* Jill Jacobson, known for her two-season tenure as Erin Jones on Falcon Crest and for succeeding Lynette Winter in the role of Larue Wilson in ABC’s one-season-and-done sitcom The New Gidget, passed away December 8 at Cedars-Sinai’s Culver West Health Center following a long illness. Her death was confirmed by close friend Dan Harary.
Jacobson’s other acting credits include roles in Star Trek: Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Quantum Leap, Newhart, Days of Our Lives, and Castle. She also appeared in films such as Visage, House of Usher, and The Circle.
* Racquel Bell Johnson, who’s made something of a living portraying first responders, recently shared a selfie from the set of Y&R dressed in EMT whites. She captioned the shot “I find myself incredibly grateful this holiday season to work with amazingly talented [Conner Floyd].” Floyd responded: “Right back at ya!!”

* Sawandi Wilson (Dr. Isaiah Gannon, GH) was the latest guest on Maurice Benard’s (Sonny Corinthos, GH) podcast, State of Mind. In the episode that dropped on Sunday, GH’s newest physician opened up on many topics, including his father’s recent passing.
He told Benard: “When we lost him last year, that hit me in a place that I wasn’t ready for because growing up—he was not like my dad; he was like my best friend.”
