For 19-year-old Giovanni Mazza (Gio Palmieri), there hasn’t been much in the way of dramatic goings-on since he made his debut on General Hospital — but that’s about to change.
Daily Drama News: Soaps: Giovanni Mazza Teases Big Story For Gio
The actor confided to TooFab that there’s something “very big coming up” for his namesake character. “That’s what the fans would be very, very excited for. Because the last nine months, I’ve sort of been involved in building my relationships. But now, we’re really going to explore who my character…is.”
As for whether or not that means his alter-ego will be revealed as Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) sire, Mazza couldn’t — or rightfully wouldn’t — say. But he did relay: “What’s really fun is when my family asks what I think. One of my cousins just texted me the other day. He’s like, ‘Is so-and-so your parents?’ And I’m like, ‘What do you think? I want to know what you think first.’ And then I’ll know what I could play into.”

* Demi Moore (ex-Jackie Templeton, General Hospital), whose alter-ego led a crusade against the criminal element all while bedeviling Robert Scorpio, received her first Oscar nod for her tour de force in The Substance.
Per The New York Times:
“Since Demi Moore arrived on screens as a teenager in a soap opera in 1981, she has achieved megastardom, amassed a fortune — she was once the highest-paid actress in the world — and been a lightning rod for fierce (and often critical) conversations about women’s bodies. On Thursday, at 62, she notched her first Oscar nomination, for best actress for her turn in “The Substance,” the body horror-satire with a feminist message. It’s a once-unexpected milestone for a woman whom a producer had derided as “a popcorn actress.”
Competing alongside Moore for the Outstanding Actress statuette are Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez), Mikey Madison (Anora), and Fernanda Torres (I’m Still Here).
In addition, Guy Pearce, who jump-started his career with a role in the Australian daytime soap opera Neighbours, is in contention for the Best Supporting Actor award.
* Former daytime TV staple Hollywood Squares is returning to its perch…for one week, at least. The recently premiered Nate Burleson-hosted, Drew Barrymore-produced game show (which features Barrymore in the prized ‘center square’) will air encore episodes January 27 – 31 at 2PM EST on CBS.
