The latest installment of The Daily Drama Podcast — brought to you by DailyDrama.com— featured the cohosts dishing about the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, the afterparty, and a brief look at the goings on in Port Charles.

The Daily Drama Podcast Spotlights The Daytime Emmys

Ever wonder how much preparation the award presenters have beforehand? According to Steve Burton (Jason Morgan, General Hospital), it’s about two run-throughs the day before totaling 15 minutes (give or take) and then the briefest of practice runs right before the moment of truth.

Luckily things proceeded perfectly for him and leading lady Laura Wright (Carly Spencer, GH) when they doled out the statuette for Lead Actress — and the adlib thought up during the previous rehearsals even got a chuckle, so, win-win!

Much celebration was had over GH’s back-to-back-to-back wins for Outstanding Directing, Writing, and Best Show, and Kelly Clarkson’s shoutout was given due discussion.

Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli, GH), who skipped out on the kudosfest this year, relayed a past incident of disrespect on the red carpet before joining Burton in a lively recap of the Frank Valentini-hosted shindig for cast and crew.

As the podcast wrapped, attentions were turned to recent scenes in which Jason and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbert) were “cooling their paws in the pool,” — scenes which Burton wasn’t exactly enamored of. In his defense, it really wasn’t the kind of thing one expects to see from Jason.
