On the latest episode of The Daily Drama Podcast — still proudly brought to you by DailyDrama.com — Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson discussed the delightful weekend that they spent in Memphis and the emotionally draining scenes surrounding Sam McCall’s passing.
The Daily Drama Podcast
The first half of the pod was all about the 5th Annual General Hospital Fan Event at Graceland, “supposedly the best so far,” — which Bradford attended for the first time.

While impressed with the facility itself, his overall takeaway was: “What a joy-filled group of people. Everyone really enjoyed being there. It was just such a celebration of the show, a celebration of the viewership, a celebration of the community that we are with our viewers.”
Steve concurred and added: “I feel like it’s spiritual. There’s something really cool about Graceland in general and the feelings that people have about Elvis…it’s almost like these cons that I do. You’re coming with good energy. You’re coming with love…It’s a good start. It’s a good canvas.”
Stone Cold and the Jackal Say Goodbye To Sam
Once the fun and games had concluded (for them anyway), it was back to the daily Port Charles grind, and emotional drama a plenty.
While discussing the scenes in which Jason relayed the news of Sam’s death to Spinelli and Maxie (Kirsten Storms), Burton mused:
“It’s been a while since you and I have been able to play anything that deep, heavy. Me, you, and Kristen…like back in the day.”
“Personally, for my scenes with [Kelly]…I had the monologues, but I didn’t know what was going to happen…I was really at a loss in the sense that I wasn’t sure how to play this…Obviously, we have a huge history. We’ve worked together for a long time. So, there’s all these things going on, but I didn’t have a clear vision of what the scene should [be]…
“It was very interesting process. It was heartbreaking. And then I ended up having to be the one to tell multiple people, which is never great. And to tell the kids too…
“[That scene between the three of us], I think it felt good also because we were together, there was trust there; we’ve worked together for years all of us. So, there was the freedom there to feel what I was feeling, obviously not make it self-indulgent…but also let you guys do what you do.”
Oh, and the hug between Stone Cold and the Jackal (the one that certainly did make us tear up!), that was all down to Steve. “If ever there was a time…it would be now. After all these years, for us to hug there, there was history…I think it was really great.”
To quote the much-loved actor: “What a week…what a week all around!”
