The Latest Daily Drama Podcast Episode
First and foremost, fans are very appreciative of Jason’s efforts to knock some sense into Drew (Cameron Mathison). Per Steve Burton, he’s been getting nothing but “Thank you. Thank you for punching [him]…Do it again.”
On Sam’s memorial service, Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli) offered: “We so enjoyed the ensemble nature of that because it was a really cool way to celebrate the charcter and in our own way celebrate our friend too…”
Added Burton: “One of the things about daytime is that there are so many writers, and writers come in and leave all the time, so it’s hard sometimes for your character to have a point of view consistently…. It seems whoever [wrote the funeral episodes] everyone had a point of view that was character-driven, and the speeches reflected that…I thought it was a really good way of showing respect to the character, and it was tough. It was not easy to do. For anybody, by the way.”
As for the decision to have Jason fight Michael’s (Chad Duell) battle for him, Burton granted, [Having Michael throw the punch] would have made more sense… It wouldn’t have been out of the realm to do so.” However, “I could probably beat up Drew better than Michael can.”
Burton also took a stab at playing head writer by relaying to his bowled-over pal, “I really wanted…I think it would have been interesting if Sonny had said ‘Take care of Jagger,’ like back in the old days.”
You Asked, They Answer
The hosts wrapped the podcast by answering several more inquiries from fans, including “Do you see Jason leaving a life of crime to be a more stable parent for Danny and Scout?” “Will Jason and Spinelli ever sing in Port Charles?” and “Who would you like to see as Luke and Laura 2.0?”
