The latest installment of The Daily Drama Podcast — brought to you by DailyDrama.com — saw hosts Steve Burton (Jason Morgan, General Hospital) and Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli, GH) welcome costar Giovanni Mazza AKA Giovanni Palmieri AKA the “new fresh face” with “great hair.”
Gio Mazza, Welcome To The Daily Drama Podcast
Some fun facts about Young Master Mazza:
* He hails from Chicago, Illinois.
* He started playing the violin when he was 3 years old and says, “I took to it. I played every day.”
* He developed a passion for acting at the ripe old age of 7 and soon after snagged his SAG card and booked commercials.
* He was 9 when he began performing at NBA half-time shows.
* His sojourn to Los Angeles was intended to be short and sweet. “I was supposed to be here two months, take a few classes, go back home to Chicago, and see where life takes me after that.”
They Like Gio, They REALLY Like Him
Mazza’s appointment to the GH canvas came fast and furious and reads like a plot ripped from a soap opera. The actor relayed to Burton and Anderson: “I was auditioning for a day player role, and what ended up happening was Mark brought me in for a producers’ session. I’d just moved to L.A.; this was my first audition…So I prepared [and] prepared. I go out to my car, my car got egged. There was about a half a dozen eggs all over my car…I didn’t have any time to clean it off.
“I go into the audition. It was [for] the dayplayer role…about 2 pages. I do it, and I forget my lines…I walked out and I was pissed…And then, also, I had the egg to clean up…The next day they called and told me that they wanted to give me a contract role and that they were writing this role for me. Blew my mind. Not expected at all!”
As for what Mazza would like to see going forward, he’s all for tapping into Gio’s recesses — what gets him emotional? What triggers him? Is he really as innocent as he seems?
