On the latest episode of The Daily Drama Podcast — brought to you by dailydrama.com — cohosts Bradford Anderson and Steve Burton welcome one of their all-time favorite people: Chad Duell.
Chad Duell On The Latest Daily Drama Podcast Episode
The trio of gents were in top form, ragging on each other as only good friends can do, and discussing everything from Duell’s beloved 15 month old to the skin care line he and his partner have been hard at work on.
But it was, of course, Duell’s exit from General Hospital that got the most lip service. When asked how the break has treated him thus far, the actor relayed:
“It feels nice. But, at the same time, it’s just a life adjustment. A lot of stuff has been going on in my life…this break…there’s a few things behind it….As people know, my dad passed away and I’m still coming to terms with that, and, also, my intention was to spend some time back in Arizona but that’s becoming a little harder to do…Right now I’m just more about doing things mentally, physically, preparing myself for whatever comes, next chapters.”
As made clear by GH EP Frank Valentini, the door is always open for a return. Says Duell: “We’ll see what happens in the future, but right now I’m just trying to grow in ways that maybe I stifled myself…sometimes you have to take drastic steps or make yourself feel uncomfortable to take a step and that’s kind of what I have not allowed myself to do…I have a few things planned I want to do for myself….”
As for why he made the decision to take a break from the role he’s played for 15 years (from the ages of 22 to 37), Duell confided:
“I feel like I had a very strong complacency and comfort for such a long time that my identity was wrapped up in that, who I was was that: the show, this character that I’ve done for so long. It’s going to be a process, kind of unraveling that and really seeing who I am, and where I am now in my life…There’s a lot of work I have to do to achieve the potential I know that I have.”
