This week’s episode of The Daily Drama Podcast — brought to you by DailyDrama.com — saw co-host Steve Burton recapping his first week back at General Hospital.
Familiar-ish Territory
It’s been six days since Jason “reared his face” — a surprise to the Port Charles contingents who knew him considering he was presumed dead two years previous — and although Burton couldn’t divulge any future plot points (and why would you want the spoilers anyway?), he could reflect on getting back into the groove of things and reuniting with some costars.
His first scenes opposite a “mainstay character,” as Anderson termed them, was Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri). Despite having a reputation as funny men who hyped one another up, Burton admitted that there wasn’t as much laughter as in days of old — they had to stay super focused in the moment.
And then, there was Jason’s reunion with Carly. Thanks to the natural rapport and built-in emotional trust between him and actress Laura Wright, Burton relayed that it wasn’t difficult to sip back into what the characters share.
Behind The Eight Ball
One thing is surely clear — Jason has a lot to catch up on, and most of it is going to be hard to reconcile. Epiphany (played by the late, much beloved Sonya Eddy) is gone, ditto Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) whom Jason had grown *ahem* incredibly fond of.
Up And Over
In case there was any question, yes, that was Burton taking the plunge off that bridge. And no, it wasn’t that daring of a do. Per the “daredevil” it was about a six-inch drop onto a padded mat.
Speaking of that scene, was Anderson and a particularly discerning viewer the only ones who heard gunshots during that scene?
EXCLUSIVE Tea
As the interview came to a close, Burton insisted on dispelling a few blatant falsehoods floating around out there in the soapsphere. NO, he has not signed a 3-month contract that will see his alter-ego expire at the end. Instead, he’s locked into a TWO-year deal and Jason is going to very much remain among the living. Huzah!
