Neighbours may be “rested” come December 2025 (following a production stoppage in July), but daytime dial hopper — and special guest of the sudser that hails from Down Under — Chrishell Stause (ex-Jordan Ridgeway, Days of our Lives; ex-Amanda Dillon, All My Children et al.) doesn’t think that this is where the story ends.
Chrishell Stause Throws Her All Behind Neighbours
The actress wrote in a series of Instagram Stories: “Spending a month with you guys showed me what a beautiful community you have built. It was an honour to be embraced by the kindest Aussies I’ve met in front and behind the camera.
“One thing I’ve learned from soaps is you’re never really dead. I will await and cheer for your dramatic return from the afterlife.”
In a subsequent upload, Stause offered: “I’ve come back from the dead TWICE. Wishing Neighbours the same dramatic return!”
Neighbours Fans Unite!
Meanwhile, disgruntled fans who’ve already seen their beloved soap canceled once before have launched a Change.org petition to convince Prime Video to reverse their decision.
Said petition reads in part: “For over 30 years, Neighbours has been more than just a soap opera, it’s been a global family. From the iconic Ramsay Street to unforgettable characters, the show has provided a daily escape, tackling real-life issues with warmth, humor, and heart. Its a place where millions have turned for comfort, entertainment, and connection…
“As Neighbours faces its second cancellation, its clear that this is more than just a TV show it is a cultural institution. Fans aren’t just asking for another season were asking to keep a part of our lives alive. Neighbours has been there through thick and thin, and it deserves to stay, not just for us, but for future generations who need a show that celebrates life’s ups and downs with warmth and heart.”
With a goal of 5,000 signatories, the petition currently has 11,175.
The projected end of Neighbours was first announced last Thursday on its official X account.
Jason Herbison, Neighbours executive producer said in response: “Audiences all around the world have loved and embraced Neighbours for four decades and we are very proud of the huge success over the last two years including often appearing as one of the Top 10 titles in the UK and the show’s first-ever Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Daytime Series in 2024.
“As this chapter closes, we appreciate and thank Amazon MGM Studios for all that they have done for Neighbours – bringing this iconic and much-loved series to new audiences globally.
“We value how much the fans love Neighbours and we believe there are more stories of the residents of Ramsay Street to tell in the future.”
A spokesperson for Amazon told TVLine: “Neighbours has brought so much joy over the last 40 years to its fanbase globally and in the UK. Forty years is an incredible milestone and we are proud that Amazon MGM Studios was able to have a small part of bringing further episodes to Freevee and Prime Video customers over the last two years, spanning over 400 episodes.”
