It’s twist after twist after twist on The Young and the Restless as of late. First, Sharon (Sharon Case) planned to murder Daniel (Michael Graziadei), but it was Heather (Vail Bloom) who ended up dead. Then someone drove Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) off the road and into a tree. And one of those someone’s was either deliciously deranged Jordan Howard (Colleen Zenk) or deplorable despot Ian Ward (Ray Wise) who have pooled their considerable crazy and are terrorizing Genoa City anew. But according to Josh Griffith, that’s just the beginning of the story.
Josh Griffith Talks Dramatic Goings On
The head writer/executive producer enthused to Soap Opera Digest that constructing the labyrinthine plot has “been fun. We always knew going in that there was going to be another killer. Sharon was not going to be a murderer. That’s why we very carefully laid it out so that we did not see the actual murder and we had her wake up and find Heather’s body.”
Equally rewarding is the formation of the soap’s newest diabolical duo: “I said, ‘These two are gonna be just absolutely delicious together!’ And the ramifications throughout Genoa City as we slowly reveal [their plans], it is just going to be a powder keg of excitement.”
But just what is the plan? Well, that would be telling, and Griffith isn’t about to spoil the storyline’s climax. But he did stoop to warn that the villains are targeting “the entire Newman family. They all need to watch their back. But I think Mariah and Claire, specifically….”
And lest you fear that there are no surprises in store, Griffith teased: “Get ready! I’ve got a couple more wrenches to throw.”
