Kate Linder (Esther Valentine) was on hand to present the Young and the Restless’ hairstyling team a well-deserved award at the 11th annual Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild Awards…after a Faye Dunaway at the Oscars-esque faux pas.
Y&R Takes Home A Trophy…Eventually
The Melissa Peterman-fronted kudos fest began with three career tributes — for five-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening (who received the MUAHS’ Distinguished Artisan honor), Oscar- and Emmy-winning makeup artist Kevin Haney, and Emmy-nominated hair stylist Ora T. Green (the recipients of the 2024 MUAHS Lifetime Achievement Awards) — before segueing to the first competition category.
Per Deadline, Linder and John Brotherton (ex-Jared Banks, One Life to Live) were supposed to announce the winner for Best Hair Styling, but a snafu resulted in Linder declaring Y&R the recipient of the award for Best Make-Up (a prize that actually belonged to Swanthula Boulet and Dracmorda Boulet for The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula).
In the immediate aftermath, Brotherton cheekily insisted, “It happened at the Oscars, it can happen here.”
