The Young and the Restless star Eric Braeden never stops proving how young he is at heart even after experiencing a harrowing year. His positive spirit and outlook can be infectious as he takes to social media to update fans on his health — and have a little fun at the same time.
Eric Braeden’s Cancer Journey
In April of 2023, Braeden revealed some harrowing news during a Facebook Live session. He had been diagnosed with bladder cancer and was undergoing immunotherapy treatments at the time of the video. His fighter attitude was apparent even then as he vowed to beat the disease.
“I’ve learned now to listen to my body more, and not go all out,” Braeden said. “So if you’ve seen me a little under the weather, yeah, I have been, but I will lick this. This bastard ain’t going to get me, I’m going to get it. I’ll be in top form again soon.”
In August, Braeden was happy to announce in another Facebook Live video that he was cancer free.
“As of three days ago, I am cancer-free,” the actor announced, adding, “I thank you for all of your good thoughts, all of your prayers…I can tell you it obviously has helped because I had my last cystoscopy two days ago — that’s when they thread a camera into your bladder — and I am cancer-free. They couldn’t find a damn thing. Isn’t that nice?”
Eric Braeden Celebrates Remaining Cancer-Free
On January 16, 2024, Braeden took to Instagram to post a light-hearted video of him moving to the music behind the wheel in his car with the caption, “Feeling better and better! F YOU, CANCER!”
Clearly, the disease is remaining at bay as the 82-year-old actor celebrates life in the most uplifting way.
And that wasn’t the only time Braeden’s dancing skills have come into play in recent weeks. Another Instagram video from a week earlier shows the actor cutting a rug with on-screen daughter Amelia Heinle (Victoria) in what appears to be a hospital room set. In the caption, Braeden wrote, “Happy to be finished with all the dialogue.”
Hopefully, there will be a lot more dancing and celebrating to come as the beloved veteran actor brings Victor Newman into our living rooms for many more years.
