Like many festive seasons before it, New Years 2025 will see a dirth of brand-new episodes of your favorite daytime dramas…Days of our Lives excluded, of course. Call that the benefit of airing on a streaming service.
Soap Opera Preemptions For New Years 2025
The Bold and the Beautiful is new on Tuesday…but only on the East Coast — West Coast viewers will be treated to CBS Sports coverage of the Sun Bowl. In that episode, “Will stumbles upon a chilling truth — unaware that his life is at risk, and Katie confronts her past mistakes and opens up to Ivy about the dangers of AI.” * Wednesday, both coasts will see an episode from Thanksgiving 2023.
General Hospital won’t be back until Thursday, January 2nd. Encore episodes (don’t call them classics!) from earlier in the year will air on Tuesday and Wednesday.
On Tuesday, The Young and the Restless is rewinding a smidge, back to the November 2024 episode in which Victor (Eric Braeden) sprang the new-build, old-look ranch on his missus. The next day proves the real treat: an installment nearly a decade old. In it, Sharon (Sharon Case) gives Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) hell for sleeping with Nicholas (Joshua Morrow), and Jack (Peter Bergman) deals with a crisis. Be on the lookout for Don Diamont BEFORE he was B&B’s Bill.
Days of our Lives, meanwhile, will upload an episode on both Tuesday and Wednesday. On the 31st: “Rafe is stunned to see an old enemy. Sophia’s mother reprimands Tate. Doug III offers a sympathetic ear to Holly. Paulina gets a warning from EJ. Brady gets some news that could change his life.”
