After being the Forrester family savior who found an experimental treatment so that Eric could live, Finn is now showing a strange side that Steffy has never seen before and she doesn’t quite know what to make of her husband.
What The Heck Happened To Finn?
While Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) has never been Finn’s (Tanner Novlan) favorite person, his rush to believe Thomas is a cold-blooded killer just because some stranger told him some sordid tale makes no sense and is completely out of character.
It was already odd months ago when Finn had a chat with Hope (Annika Noelle) and tried to encourage her not to find someone — anyone — other than Thomas after her breakup with Liam (Scott Clifton). Since Finn also doesn’t like Liam he didn’t want her to repair her marriage, but why should he care who Hope was with?
And why would he oddly tell Hope that as long as he was alive, there was no way he would allow her to be with Thomas? This is a woman he barely knows. Sure, they have some familial connection and get along, but Hope and Finn have never been what anyone would call close friends. His behavior is beyond strange, but when he is with Thomas, it seems to borderline on cruel.
Isn’t Finn A Doctor?
At one time, Finn seemed to understand that Thomas had mental health issues and as a doctor knew that mental health problems were as real as physical health problems and didn’t necessarily make someone a bad person.
Now, he is crassly and cruelly telling Thomas that he is as unstable as ever and is putting on an act for everyone to see. Where would he even get that idea? Why would he think that when Thomas has given him or anyone else any indication that his mental health is suffering again? Having a sibling spat with Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) doesn’t make Thomas or anyone else crazy. It makes them a normal person who has a disagreement with someone.
In fact, Finn already told Liam that Thomas had changed back in June when he tried to reassure him that he didn’t have to worry about Hope being around his brother-in-law. What did Thomas do to show him he was still dangerous? The answer is absolutely nothing.
What Happened To Finn?
Finn seemed to be the dream guy Steffy wanted and needed after years of being jerked around like Lil’ Puke Liam. Heck, he even stepped in front of a bullet for her, but something strange started happening over the summer when he entertained the idea of possibly forging some sort of relationship with the woman shooting that bullet — his crazy bio mom Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown).
Even before Sheila shot both him and Steffy, Finn was ready to believe Sheila had changed and overcome her own mental health and sociopathic struggles — and her decades’ worth of crimes were SO much worse than anything Thomas ever did. Yet somehow Thomas can never be whole again.
Finn’s thoughts and actions are beyond odd so either the show is purposely writing Finn out of character just to create an artificial wedge between him and Steffy (to make Liam look good?) or something mysterious is happening to the good Dr. John ‘Finn’ Finnegan.
