It’s been more than two years since The Bold and the Beautiful brought Taylor Hayes back on the scene in the form of former Days of Our Lives star Krista Allen. Hunter Tylo, who originated the role back in 1990 chose not to return, so the show surprisingly chose to recast — and it worked.
Taylor Became A Front Burner Character Again
Allen’s Taylor was immediately thrust back into the forefront as she admitted to her grown children that she still had feelings for Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), while she also decided that Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) deserved a second chance in life. She truly believed that Sheila had overcome severe mental health issues and had changed, but she was soon to learn she was wrong.
After Sheila shot Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Finn (Tanner Novlan), Taylor became more of a protective Mama Bear than ever before, while Steffy and Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) decided they wanted their parents back together. Thomas even helped facilitate that when he set up Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) to take the fall for a fake CPS call Thomas made on himself regarding his son Douglas (Henry Joseph Samiri). The aim was to hurt Brooke, but when Ridge dumped Brooke on false pretenses and ran straight to Taylor (quite literally), it was a fringe benefit of his little game.
Ridge didn’t bother telling Taylor or Brooke why he dumped one and tried to marry the other, but when both women found out, they decided they were done with Ridge and would become BFFs after decades of being mortal enemies.
As expected, ‘Braylor’ didn’t last more than a few short months (despite Allen and Lang’s incredible dynamic together), with Ridge running right back to Brooke (again, literally) when they were in Rome and he saw her through the infamous Keyhole of Destiny.
Can We Get Taylor Back?
Now, Brooke and Ridge are happily together again with no conflict or storyline while Taylor is nowhere to be found. She is frequently out of town for medical conferences once again when she can be used to bring Brooke and Ridge the daily drama their relationship always needs.
Taylor should also be there for her kids, defending Thomas against accusations that he is still mentally unstable and watching out for him as Xander declares him to be a cold-blooded killer. With Finn seemingly believing Xander’s tale and Steffy defending her brother to her husband, Taylor could also be a support for Steffy as she navigates difficulties in her marriage.
With Krista Allen confirming her exit from B&B, it looks like Taylor will be gone indefinitely, something that definitely leaves a hole in the canvas that needs repairing ASAP.
