Two years after making her debut as a recast Taylor Hayes on The Bold and the Beautiful, Krista Allen has announced that she’s been let go from the 36-year-old soap.
No More Taylor Hayes In LA
When B&B broke the news that the iconic role of Taylor Hayes had been recast and Hunter Tylo would not be returning to the role she originated more than 30 years ago, it came as quite a shock to the soap world. Tylo had made her mark on daytime as Taylor after previously appearing on All My Children (under the name Deborah Morehart) and Days of Our Lives. The last time she appeared on B&B was in 2019.
Allen, who played Billie Reed on DAYS back in 1996 and played the character until 1999. Primetime and movie appearances followed for the next 20 years, but Allen never made her way back to soaps until she began bringing Taylor to life in 2021.
Now, she tells Deadline that she was informed last month that the show wasn’t renewing her contract.
Krista Allen Bids B&B Farewell
Allen built up quite a large fan following over the past two years and loves communicating with viewers on social media. Earlier this week, she began tweeting thanks to her followers for always supporting her, making many wonder if she was saying her goodbyes.
As she told Deadline, she was surprised to hear she wouldn’t be making more appearances as Taylor. The last time she aired was November 8.
“The craziest thing is right before I got dropped, I did the cast photo shoot, and then the next week they called and said, ‘we’re not going to keep your third year and thank you very much, you were wonderful and thank you, goodbye,” Allen said. “And I was like, what?”
She even explained her Twitter return after expecting the show to announce the news that she was out.
“I think the hardest thing for me has been trying to stay quiet,” the actess said. “I haven’t known what to say. And then when I got dropped, I was like, ‘oh, okay, is the show going to announce this?’ But they never did. And then on December 10, just recently, it was Taylor’s two-year anniversary [of being back on show], and I came back to Twitter for the first time since June to engage with fans again, just to say thank you because there were so many congratulations and people saying, ‘I can’t wait to see you back on screen’ and ‘when are you coming back?”
Will Taylor once again leave LA for a medical conference or will B&B write off the character another way? Stay tuned to find out.
