The sands in Clyde Weston’s hourglass will no longer flow…until Days of our Lives again requires his services. The baddie’s abiding luck finally ran out when he was plugged by gun-toting Mama Greene and slipped into a coma, capping James Read’s latest run.
James Read (Momentarily) OUT at DAYS
In the aftermath of his alter-ego’s resting, Read told Deadline: It’s been a fabulous run so far, only the soap gods know if it is meant to continue! I always think of Days as a family and have enjoyed every minute of working there since I started 10 years ago.”
Read debuted on the sudser on June 27, 2014, and since then, Hell-raising Clyde (created by then-incumbent headwriters Gary Tomlin and Christopher Whitesell) has made the lives of the denizens of Salem a misery.
His latest stunt saw him kidnap the Greene family matriarch so that he could manipulate her eldest child, Cat (AnnaLynne McCord), into impersonating Chad DiMera’s (Billy Flynn) wife, Abigail whom Clyde may or may not have killed (the jury’s still out). His ultimate goal? Get Cat and Chad hitched, then dispatch the groom and make off with the windfall that would come Cat’s way. (Yeah, it was as convoluted and nonsensical as it sounds!)
