The Locher Room continues to be a font of casting spoilers. No sooner had Stephen Schnetzer let slip that he was putting in a return appearance on Days of our Lives than recent interviewee Deidre Hall announced that Gloria Loring was back as Liz Chandler.

“We’re having a number of people coming back to the show in the next few weeks for episodes that we’re doing and Gloria Loring is going to be coming back, detailed the actress to host Alan Locher before grinning broadly and musing, “Maybe I shouldn’t be announcing that.”
No doubt the triple threat (Loring can sing, act, and compose) is returning so that her alter-ego can mourn Doug Williams (played by her real-life pal the late, great Bill Hayes).
Loring debuted on DAYS on April 25, 1980, and quickly caused a stir onscreen — first Liz pursued the very married Don Craig, then she turned her attentions to degenerate Neil Curtis; their romance would be (temporarily) thwarted by the appearance of her estranged husband, Tony DiMera (Thaao Penghlis) and his father Stefano — and off (Loring carved out a contract that gave her outs to pursue guest appearances on primetime programs of the day, scripted and otherwise).
Liz remained a Salem fixture until 1986 when Loring decamped for pastures new. During her tenure, Liz suffered one indignation after another. (Neil’s shady dealings resulting in the chanteuse getting shot in the throat and temporarily loosing her money maker and her arrest and trial for the attempted murder of her love rival are but two prime examples.)
