It was all fun and games for Theresa until people started getting hurt. All her secrets have come to light and now it’s time for the messy character to pay the price for her chaos. Unfortunately, that means Emily O’Brien is checking out of Days of our Lives, too…at least for now.

Emily O’Brien Bids Theresa Farewell

The August 8th episode saw Theresa finally face the music and hauled away in cuffs. According to Soap Opera Digest, we won’t be seeing Thesesa’s life behind bars. Emily O’Brien is leaving the canvas and shared her thoughts on her exit with the publication.

“I was in tears, and I faced everybody on stage and I looked at the cameras. Then I just told everyone how incredibly lucky I am. I wasn’t supposed to be on the show for as long as I was. I never thought that daytime would be something that was accessible to me again,” she told the site. “I not only got to play one amazing role, but I played two amazing roles.”

Will we see her again? Never say never! O’Brien has two characters she could reprise any day. “You never know,” she teased. It would definitely be fun to have Gwen return now that her character’s sister is back on canvas. Some good old-fashioned sisterly rivalry is always a hit. For now, we wish O’Brien well and hope she finds a home on daytime TV again.
