Julie and Doug could do nothing but sit and watch their house go up in flames this week on Days of our Lives. They cried tears of sorrow as they wondered who would do this and why. Of course, we’re wondering the exact same things.
An Arsonist On The Loose
While signs are pointing to Xander (Paul Telfer), does it fit? He left the house to “go on a run” which is suspicious, at best. Would he really do something to hurt Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes), Doug (Bill Hayes), Chad (Billy Flynn), and the kids? Surely this first-time dad wouldn’t do something that would risk the children’s lives…right?
Motive And Opportunity
Chad is sure he’s the true intended target and he strongly suspects Clyde (James Read) and his crew are responsible. Clyde is behind bars, though, which means he’d need one of his lackeys to carry out the dirty deed. He has many Salem players in his pocket, probably more than the ones we know about. So, who did he call up to be a fire starter?
Could it be Everett (Blake Berris)? He and Chad seem friendly enough in and out of work, but is it all an act? Something does seem off about the newcomer. Could he be a Clyde plant who is using his connections to destroy lives?
Would EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) be involved in some way? Is Clyde blackmailing the new D.A. and forcing him to do underhanded things? EJ came down hard on Stefan (Brandon Barash), however, it wouldn’t be the first time he put on an act. EJ does have a history of terrible trickery.
What if it’s someone from the force? It’s becoming clear Officer Goodman (Christy St. John) was likely the one who took shots at Lucas (did you catch her complaining about a sore shoulder?). What if she’s not the only dirty cop lurking about? Does she have an ally who set the fire while she was trying to gun down her target?
Whoever it is, we hope they are caught sooner rather than later. The good people of Salem are dealing with enough, never mind having several would-be killers on the loose!
