Former Days of our Lives fan favorite Alison Sweeney took to Instagram earlier today with news that she’s back in front of the camera. At the time, she was keeping the project soundly under wraps. But now the cat may be well and truly out of the bag.
Alison Sweeney And Victor Webster Take The Case
The actress best known to her fans as DAYS’ Sami Brady is stepping back into the role of baker, businesswoman, and busybody sleuth Hannah Swensen. What’s more, Sweeney, who adapted the script from author Joanne Fluke’s novel Apple Turnover Murder served as the project’s executive producer, had a hand in selecting Hannah’s new leading man.
While franchise mainstays Gabriel Hogan, Barbara Niven, Tess Atkins and Lisa Durupt will be back to lend Sweeney (and her alter-ego) some support, leading man Cameron Mathison (whose played Hanna’s love interest, Detective Mike Kingston since the series aired under the Murder She Baked umbrella) will be absent.
Instead, Sweeney will be reunited with Victor Webster (himself a DAYS alum), her co-star from the uber popular Wedding Veil series of films.
“I’ve always loved working with Victor — from our years in daytime to our work together on The Wedding Veil,” said Sweeney in a statement. “When writing the script and developing this movie, I knew he’d be a great addition to the Hannah Swensen family and am thrilled that he said yes.”
In One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery, “Hannah Swensen has been asked to teach a baking class at the college in town, but her equipment is tampered with causing an explosion that the fire department rules an accident. Soon, a colleague ends up dead and Hannah begins to put together the puzzle of the mysterious circumstances surrounding the murder. Hannah leans on her friends and family to collect the breadcrumbs of foul play and put them together and meets a different side of law and order when Lake Eden’s prosecuting attorney Chad Norton (Webster) enters her life.”
Sweeney’s previously mentioned, tease filled Instagram post can be viewed below. After its publication, fans speculated whether this meant a reprisal of Sami was imminent, or, as seems to be the case, Sweeney was returning to her stomping grounds at Hallmark.
