Born on June 23rd in Manhattan, New York, Cherie Jimenez was reared in the Lower East Side, Washington Heights, Alphabet City, and Brooklyn. She is of Sicilian, Italian, Puerto Rican, Dominican, Spanish, and Taino Native American descent.

Though she’s the third actress to essay the part of Gabi, Jimenez was one of the first to test lo those many years ago. “It just wasn’t meant to be,” Jimenez granted to Soap.sheknows. “I was 22. I had just moved to L.A. a couple of years prior at 19 and the audition came into my life…

“I talked to [casting director Marnie Saitta] about it, and I was like, ‘Marnie just so you know, I auditioned for this 15 years ago.’ She said, ‘Yes, I know. I was actually looking for your tape.’ So in a roundabout way, things that are just meant for you come back around. It’s such a beautiful thing that it wasn’t meant for me when I was 22. But for whatever reason, at 36 it came back into my life. This is a role of a lifetime. It’s a dream role.”

Jimenez has been wed to actor/producer Sean Faris since September 2017. The two tied the knot during that year’s Burning Man Festival.

A survivor of domestic violence, Jimenez is a vocal advocate for raising awareness about the issue. Her recent endeavors have seen her take part in the film Maya, a stirring portrait of child abuse/sex trafficking.
