Much like Jennifer Rose (Cady McClain, Days of our Lives), Steve smelled a rat when he made the acquaintance of the blonde femme pretending to be his beloved niece — and actor Stephen Nichols couldn’t be more thrilled with his alter-ego’s desire to suss out the truth.

The actor mused to Soap Opera Digest that, “Steve is always eager to be able to use his PI skills for something other than a case that is potentially dangerous and takes him out of town, which always puts a strain on his and Kayla’s marriage.”
What’s more, “When family is involved, Steve brings his A game!” Steve’s first Hail Mary was to try and convince his Sweetness to run another DNA test, this one is secret. No dice!
His next move? Paying Clyde Weston (James Read) a visit. Relays Nichols: “It was fun mixing it up with James Read, [who plays Clyde]. He’s a very good actor…the scenes with Clyde played like your typical cat-and-mouse game. Steve walks away empty-handed.”
But don’t expect the dogged gumshoe to give up his inquiry! And while Nichols couldn’t spoil much more story, he did tease the outlet with two delicious words: “Stay tuned!”
