Today’s Days of Our Lives recap for December 14, 2023, details Nicole’s continued heartache, Holly’s forever quest, and much more.
Alleged Closure For EJ And Nicole
Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) enjoyed an evening out to distract themselves from the alleged tragedy they just experienced. Nicole wanted to start living a normal life again, which included giving Holly (Ashley Puezemis) a good Christmas. When the subject of Holly came up, EJ thought it was a good time to mention that Holly seemed to have a crush on Tate (Jaime Martin Mann).
When they got home, EJ pointed out the mistletoe above the door so they could share a sweet kiss. Nicole was also excited to see the living room decorated for Christmas. However, a package soon arrived to put a damper on things.
It was their son’s ashes, or at least what they believed to be their baby’s ashes. As we all know, their baby is alive and well with Eric and Sloan. EJ thought this was a way for them to get closure. They could have a service for their little boy in the DiMera mausoleum and lay him to rest.
Instead, Nicole chose to say a prayer on her own and spread his ashes outside the front door. Later, EJ presented her with an ornament in honor of their baby to hang on the tree.
Tate And Holly’s Big Date
Holly was thrilled that Johnny (Carson Boatman) was willing to teach her to fence, so they spent some bonding time together before his big anniversary date with Chanel (Raven Bowens). When Holly learned of the date at the Bistro, she wondered if it might be awkward to go to dinner where their parents were dining.
Chanel prepared for her big night with Johnny and asked Paulina (Jackee Harry) to help her pick out the perfect outfit. However, Chanel became a bit concerned when Paulina was extra tired and didn’t even have the strength to walk to the kitchen.
Paulina also had bad news for her daughter. Lani (Sal Stowers) wouldn’t be released in time for Christmas due to backlogged paperwork. When Paulina started to feel light-headed, Chanel suggested Johnny come over and they would just order in. But, Paulina refused to hear of it. She was fine and wanted Chanel to go on her date.
As for Holly, she disappointed Tate when he realized that their date at the Bistro was so they could make Johnny jealous. Holly lied and claimed she had no idea Johnny would be there. Tate finally expressed how annoyed he was with being used by her all the time. He bluntly told her that she was never going to be with Johnny, but Holly begged to differ.
Sarah And Xander Bond
Xander (Paul Telfer) and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) experienced a bit of a flirty moment when he stopped by the hospital to drop off Victoria. Xander bragged that the baby slept through the night for him while Sarah lamented she never does it for her.
Sarah was impressed that Xander sang their baby a Scottish lullaby and wished she could have been there for it. The flirting continued until the co-parents held hands. That’s when Sarah got nervous and ran off, claiming she had to check on a patient.
Instead, she ran straight to Marlena (Deidre Hall) and told her she wasn’t sure what to do. Things were working out great with the custody arrangement, but she still had feelings for Xander and wondered if she should act on them.
Xander also wanted some advice so he turned to John (Drake Hogestyn). Too bad John called him an “ass and a screwup” but he still believed that people — even Xander — could grow and change. He advised Xander to turn over a new leaf for good, especially for his daughter’s sake.
When Sarah returned, they decided to take the baby for a walk in Horton Square where they bought their daughter a doll house as a holiday gift from both of her parents.
