Though he recently hung up his stethoscope after 35 years of service, retired E.R. doctor Guy Gansert, who competed for the heart of Golden Bachelorette Joan Vassos, is checking into General Hospital.

Per People, Gansert will debut as wildlife journalist Geoffrey on Wednesday, March 12 in scenes opposite Cynthia Watros’s Nina Reeves and Maura West’s Ava Jerome.
Gansert revealed to the outlet that the offer to guest star on the “well-respected, long-running series” he’d watched in college came after a spirited conversation with a head honcho from ‘Bachelor Nation.’
“Having had absolutely no acting experience, I said [I’d relish the opportunity] — kinda — jest. Within a couple of weeks, I received an email Zoom invitation with [executive producer] Frank Valentini and [Vice President, Production & Administration, ABC Daytime, Disney ABC Television Group] Dominick Nuzzi. After a 30-minute Zoom interview, they loved the idea of a real ER doctor who made it to the final two of The Golden Bachelorette. A month later, I received an offer to be on a small one-day episode.”
Gansert, who “responded in the affirmative immediately,” went on to gush: “Even though I was ecstatic over being a cast member on The Golden Bachelorette, this was an exciting opportunity to actually act and be a part of an iconic show
