Beloved soap hopper Rick Hearst is returning to General Hospital and the role that netted him Daytime Emmy Gold twice over.

Look for his Ric Lansing — the half-brother of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) via shared mother Adela — to reappear the week of August 19.
Last a member of the GH in 2016, Hearst admitted to TVInsider that he was shocked to have gotten the tap. “It’s been very much on my periphery and not in my consciousness for eight years…
“My first question [to casting director Mark Teschner] was, ‘Really?’ And he said, ‘Yeah.’ I said, ‘What’s the story, what’s happening?’ So then he told me and I kind of look at it as, ‘Daddy’s home and here to take care of his daughter and anything that entails.'”
What the reprisal did entail was Hearst doing a bit of catching up. Relayed the actor: “I see that there’s a situation where Kristina [Kate Mansi] is being a surrogate for Molly [Kristen Vaganos]. And while I don’t know what that turns into, I have a feeling there’s going to be some friction by virtue of the fact that one daughter is parented by Alexis [Nancy Lee Grahn] and Sonny, and the other daughter is parented by Alexis and Ric. That alone is enough to create a mad amount of drama of who’s going to side with who. And it’s going to be entertaining.”
Heart is set to begin filming his scenes next week.
