William Lipton’s stint on General Hospital provided him many an opportunity to show off his impressive musicality, and now he’s poised to deliver the goods in a new show for Amazon.
William Lipton’s Next Adventure
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the retail and streaming giant has greenlit The Runarounds, an eight-episode series set to follow “a post-high school band as they try to make it big.” Though not touted as a direct spinoff of Netflix‘s breakout hit Outer Banks, the titular band first appeared during a season three episode.
The Runarounds, a fictionalized account of the real band of the same name, hails from Outer Banks co-creator Jonas Pate with a cast consisting of group members Lipton, Axel Ellis, Jeremy Yun, Zendé Murdock, and Jesse Golliher, as well as Kelly Pereira and Lilah Pate, Jonas’s daughter. A premiere date is still very much TBD.
The ensemble was formed in 2021 when Pate issued a casting call for a group to appear on Outer Banks and was selected from than 5,000 hopefuls. They recorded a live album during a USC concert and were scene on General Hospital on September 6, 2022, during scenes in which Lipton’s alter-ego performed an original number Darling, Darling (penned by the showman himself).
Lipton took to Instagram with a snapshot of the series’ announcement and commented, “Where are we going, fellas? To the top, Johnny!” His former GH co-star, Sydney Mikayla (ex-Trina Robinson), was the first to issue a post of congratulations.
