We here at Daily Drama are all about bringing you the best exclusive content for soaps…and their stars. To celebrate the leading ladies and men of daytime we’ve set out to hear their stories and share their tales. Like everyone else, they have experiences to talk about, opinions to voice, nostalgia to revel in, and memories they want to immortalize in…well…not amber per se, but a nice font will do.
And, for those actors, the best place, the only place is right here at Daily Drama’s Exclusive Blog Spot. No interested party will be turned away, no article will be expurgated, and no take will be too controversial. We’re kicking off this series with Bradford Anderson’s delightful recollection of his recent family vacation…
The Daily Drama Exclusive Blog Spot: Bradford Anderson’s Tale
A few months back, our oldest daughter told us that going to Hawaii was on her bucket list. My immediate reaction was “What 12-year-old says that?!” My second reaction was to frantically research trips to Hawaii. Kiera and I honeymooned in Maui 14 years ago, and as great as it was, I always thought our next trip to the 50th state would be to a different island.
Over the last few years though, a few of our friends have continually raved about a specific resort on Maui, and how it just might be their favorite place to visit. Knowing we’d only have an extended weekend to travel, and would probably want to just stay on resort grounds rather than do too much adventuring, going back to Maui seemed like the right choice.
In order to maximize our short trip, we left early Thursday morning on a flight to Maui that connected in Las Vegas. Our girls have never been to Las Vegas and were tickled by all the slot machines in the airport. Thankfully, there were no toy claw machines or we might have been in trouble.
Nearly 6 hours later, and dangerously close to zero percent battery on the kid’s iPads, we landed at Kahului airport. After picking up our rental car we drove the 25 minutes or so to Wailea Beach and our home for the next 4 days, the Fairmont Kea Lani

After the traditional Lei bestowal, we found ourselves beautifully situated on the top floor with an incredible view of the entire resort. Thanks to Tara at the front desk for a stunning upgrade!
The next morning we visited the Iao Valley State Monument, deciding to not put off being adventurous. Full disclosure: We are not the most outdoorsy of families; resort life is more our speed. It was beautiful for sure, but we were all excited to get back and hit the beach!
With temperatures in the 90s for the majority of our trip, we spent the bulk of our time going between the beautiful beach and the fantastic pool. Our kids had heard tell of the famous waterslide and it did not disappoint. The days blissfully flew by with lots of books, boogie, boards, and dinners on our patio. There was one quick trip to the famous Maui Cookie Lady in the quaint town of Makawao, because…cookies.
We are so grateful that not only are our kids great students, caring friends, and curious young people, they also understand the value of relaxing. Traveling with them is an absolute delight. Speaking of delights, my wife is truly the best, and the girls and I are so lucky that she’s ours.
We’re already planning our next big trip…hopefully to Europe next summer!
