News broke on November 23rd that Chad Duell is vacating his role as Michael Corinthos on General Hospital. Shortly after, executive producer Frank Valentini confirmed the announcement and gave some insight on what’s to come.
General Hospital’s Frank Valentini Speaks Out
Valentini took to Twitter to talk about the casting shocker and show his love for Chad Duell. “I am sad to confirm the news of Chad Duell’s forthcoming exit from #GeneralHospital. I have loved working with Chad over the years and wish him nothing but the best. He is a terrific actor and will be missed by everyone at #GH. (1/2)”
There are no plans to recast his role at this time, but you never know in daytime. I can promise a great story for Michael and his family when Chad exits in the new year. (2/2)

In his subsequent tweet, he made it clear the show has no plans to continue with the character after Duell leaves the scene. This comes after fans immediately predicted Robert Adamson would be taking over since he’s recently stepped up as Michael when Duell needed to be away. Unfortunately, that’s not the way this exit will play out.

While that doesn’t sound like great news for Michael fans, at leas there’s a glimmer of hope that Chad and his family will get into a good place before he takes his leave. And, there is a possibility for a future for the legacy character.
