From the writers’ room turned merry-go-round to some jaw-dropping actor exits, the biggest (and best!) drama has been emanating from behind-the-scenes at General Hospital — but the sudser’s new (well, familiar) stewards assure that they have a vision for 2025.
Elizabeth Korte And Chris Van Etten Talk Plans For General Hospital
And that vision can be summed up in two words: “volatile” and “sexy.” In a recent interview with TVGuide (Volume 73; Number 03; Issue #3784-3786), the duo granted, “It’s an incredible responsibility. We must honor the show’s history and the audience’s love for it, as well as the work of all those who preceded us — all while creating new stories to challenge and grow its characters.
“We’re privileged to write for such a talented cast, many of whom have embodied their roles for decades. It’s humbling.”
Chris Van Etten, who was shown the door alongside side his then co-headwriter, Dan O’Connor, in 2024, then soon rehired as a breakdown writer before once again nabbing the top scribe position beside Elizabeth Korte is more than grateful for his second chance at bat. “Writing for GH is a dream twice come true. It’s an honor to work with our team of writers, and especially Elizabeth. She has a steady hand and an awesome imagination.”
Korte, for her part, says that she “couldn’t ask for a better collaborator and writing partner than Chris,” and hopes that “my history with the show enables me to understand the characters, to hear their voices clearly, to honor their complex history and track off their history as we move them forward.”
