Turns out the juiciest drama is playing out behind the scenes at General Hospital. Barely three months into his tenure, Patrick Mulchaey has been relieved of his co-headwriting duties. Material crafted by the dramatist and Elizabeth Korte (who’ll continue to govern the goings on in Port Charles) will air through mid-summer.
Patrick Mulchaey Leaving GH
The Buzz was the first to report.
But wait, there’s further twists and turns to navigate. First, a highly placed source confided to Soap Opera Digest that, “There will be more news to share at a later date as to the composition of the new writing team.”
Then there’s the little matter of Chris Van Etten’s name appearing in the credits. Per Soap Opera Network, the man who was ousted alongside Dan O’Connor in favor of the Mulchaey/Korte pairing is back on staff as a breakdown writer. Curiouser and curiouser …
Mulcahey’s storied daytime career began in 1979 when he was tapped to pen scripts for Search For Tomorrow. He subsequently toiled at Texas, Guiding Light, Loving, Santa Barbara, GH, and The Bold and the Beautiful in several positions, including dialoguist, breakdown writer, story editor, associate headwriter, headwriter, and story consultant.
