Dynamo multi-hyphen Cady McClain has rubbed shoulders with some of the greatest of the greats during her storied career, but two in particular hold a special place in her heart.
Cady McClain Reflects On Two Beloved Co-stars
“I’m really lucky to have worked with two wonderful actors with long histories in the business: James Mitchell (“Uncle Palmer”) and David Canary (“Adam Chandler”) on “All M Children.” began McClain on an Instagram post that included two throwback snaps of her with each gentleman (and yes, that is Sarah Michelle Gellar, McLain’s fellow AMCer).
“Both were disciplined, hard working men who navigated the industry admirably,” she continued. “They had rich personal lives and were generous colleagues, always willing to give a little more in rehearsal, time to run lines once more. Marvelously supportive and kind to me as well as so many others.
“The first photo is of James Mitchell and Sarah Gellar attending a production I was blessed to play “Hero” in at Lincoln Center Theater: “Much Ado About Nothing” directed by Deloss Brown.
The second is of one of my early days (1988, omg Jesus wept!) on “All My Children.” David Canary and I bonding over our love of acting and how much fun we were having playing the fantastic story written for us. Neither one of us was cynical in the least. We were passionate and grateful to the core.
Thinking of all my creative friends and colleagues today who have been navigating the terrain for a lifetime… you are with me. And I am with you. Always.”
