Beyond The Gates, the first daytime soap opera to premiere in the US since Passions (1999-2008) — and previously referred to as simply The Gates — is on track to debut in “early 2025,” but casting is still ongoing.
Beyond The Gates Looking To Cast Three New Hunks
Per TVInsider, the sudser is looking to fill the following roles (as in all hiring decisions thus far, Atlanta-based actors will be given top consideration):
Tom: A Latinx male in his late 20s. Tomas “Tom” Hernandez is an extremely handsome and supremely confident attorney. This is a contract role.
Mike: A white male in his 50s. He’s a high-powered law partner of “Joseph’s” – and also the best man at his wedding. However, Mike has now been accused of sexual impropriety in the workplace. This is a non-contract role.
Luis: A Hispanic/Latino male in his late 20s to early 40s. Ssexy, attractive, and drop-dead gorgeous. He’s a personal trainer at the Fairmont Estates Country Club. Luis has an eye on one of the married women in the gated community. He is charming, likable, and (of course!) extremely fit. The character of Luis is non-contract.
Per the official synopsis:
“Beyond the Gates is set in a leafy Maryland suburb just outside of Washington D.C., and in one the most affluent African American counties in the United States. Here you’ll find a posh gated community with winding tree-lined streets and luxurious mansions to call home.
“At the center of this community are the Duprees, a powerful and prestigious multi-generational family that is the very definition of Black royalty. But behind these pristine walls and lush, manicured gardens are juicy secrets and scandals waiting to be uncovered. And those that live outside these gates are watching closely. These are the places where our characters live, love, work and play. Those who have ‘made it’ and those who haven’t are all trying to navigate life … and some with more grace than others.”
As previously detailed, Bob Guza (a former headwriter of General Hospital and scribe of multiple other sudsers) and veteran producer Julie Hanan Carruthers (who stewarded, amongst others, Port Charles, GH, and All My Children) have boarded the series as executive producers alongside creatrix/showrunner/headwriter Michele Val Jean.
Sheila Ducksworth, Leon Russell, Derrick Johnson and Kimberly Doebereiner will also serve as EPs.
Back in September, TVInsider announced that three actresses very familiar to soap opera viewers had been cast to fill three pivotal roles. Tamara Tunie (ex-Jessica Griffin, As the World Turns), Karla Mosley (ex-Maya Avant Forrester, The Bold and the Beautiful), and Daphnee Duplaix (ex-Rachel Gannon, One Life to Live) have been tapped to play, respectively: Anita Dupree, Dani Dupree, and Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson.
