The Young and the Restless’ Courtney Hope Opens Up About The Hollywood Blockbuster She Was Cut From

During a recent Instagram live, Courtney Hope [Sally Spectra, The Young and the Restless, formerly of The Bold and the Beautiful] shared a disappointment familiar to many in the business of show.

Courtney Hope Talks Missed Opportunity

It turns out that if you sit through The Divergent Series: Allegiant’s end credits you’ll see Hope’s name listed. Curious, considering she’s not actually in in the film proper.

“It was really sad…. I’m thinking this is career-changing. Like my career is gonna take off.” relayed Hope to those watching the stream.

“I had a scene with Naomi Watts and I got to like, interact with her, and I’ve got to say that was by far, especially to that point and even beyond it really, really gave me a, a different sense of this business and who I was and the, the player that I could be interacting with…”

Unfortunately, there was much tinkering behind the scenes. “No one will ever see [my work] because they…scrapped [it]. The director, the writer reshot half of it anyway,” declared Hope. “Me and like six other people that were there ended up not being in it and it was really heartbreaking, but I will forever hold that experience close to me. That entire crew. They were amazing. Atlanta [where the film was shot] was amazing. I felt amazing having this scene with Naomi.”

And as for exactly how Hope learned she’d been resigned to the cutting room floor: a tip-off from a good girlfriend who worked in the Lion’s Gate publicity department plus a personal trip to the theatre — with her mother in tow!

“It was so heartbreaking,” granted Hope. “But that’s the industry…I know it’s happened to so many people.”
