The post reads in part: “So very sad to share we had to say goodbye to our sweet Sophia yesterday. And although we were so lucky to have 16 1/2 years with this special angel, it just never seems like enough time.
“We are heartbroken but also grateful. Sophia made me a Mom. She changed me forever. So many of you knew and loved her. She was the best girl, so much personality, hated the mailman and loved “getting the mail.” She barked at any animal on the tv…
“I know it’s part of life as a dog parent, but it hurts so bad. We will love you forever our sweet Sophie girl. And will see you again one day. Now go get that mailman.”

A plethora of Egan co-stars, past and present, were among the many who left messages of condolences. Tracey Bregman (Lauren Fenmore Baldwin) wrote, “Oh honey, I’m so sorry. My heart breaks for you. These angel babies come into our lives for just a short time but leave their lasting paw prints on our hearts forever. Sending so much love to you and your family.”
Jessica Collins (ex-Avery Clarke) penned, “My heart hurts for all of you. I know this feeling very well. Sending you all love and thank you for sharing sweet Sophia with all of us through the years. She will be missed.” While Courtney Hope (Sally Spectra) offered up, “I’m so sorry missy! I know how much you didn’t want this. She couldn’t have been more loved!
