Mexican American actress Zuleyka Silver (Audra Charles, The Young and the Restless) was a recent guest KCAL News to discuss her career and Tijuana roots.
Zuleyka Silver Talks To KCAL News
“I love Audra so much,” effused Silver to Entertainment Correspondent Suzanne Marques. “I never know what she’s going to do next, so that keeps me on my toes…she’s always getting into trouble.”
As for what it is that she so loves about her character, Silver proffered: “Audra is so determined, she’s unapologetically herself, and I just love that she walks into any room and she has this commanding presence. Actually, I feel she’s taught me a lot about not being afraid of taking up space. And I love how authentic she is. She’s not afraid to tell anyone about themselves. And she stands up for what she believes in, and she’s ambitious, and a go-getter, and I love that about her.”
Silver, who came to the U.S. when she was seven years old, also mused on the beauty of her upbringing, relaying that, “I don’t fell a hundred percent Mexican when I’m in Mexico, and I don’t feel a hundred percent American when I’m here…I don’t have to be one thing, I can be both. I love L.A. just as much as I love going back home and it’s a beautiful blend of both cultures and I love that we get to celebrate that.”
