In the 1990s, Ellen Travolta made a splash on General Hospital as Gloria Cerullo, mother of the newly-returned Lois Cerullo. Now, she is heading back to Port Charles from Brooklyn in time for the holiday season.
Ellen Travolta Back On General Hosptial
According to Soap Opera Digest, Travolta will reprise her old GH role around Thanksgiving, which means that Rena Sofer’s Lois will be sticking around for at least another month. When Sofer’s return was first announced, there was some question as to whether she’d be on the soap for a few weeks or a few months. Well, it’s already been a few weeks and Thanksgiving is also still weeks away. It remains to be seen if Travolta and Sofer’s stay will extend into the rest of the holiday season.
Travolta first appeared on GH in 1994 and played Gloria off and on until 1996. She is also known for her role as Chachi’s mom on Joanie Loves Chachi in the 1980s, as well as her role in the hit movie Grease with her little brother, John Travolta.
Gloria’s Legacy Remains
Gloria Cerullo has been a topic of conversation in Port Charles in recent months. Lois reminded Sonny (Maurice Benard) that she was Gloria’s daughter and could cook for herself, while Sonny told Dex (Evan Hofer) all about hanging out in Gloria’s Bensonhurst kitchen as a kid and learning how to cook. He even made Dex one of Gloria’s specialties.
What will prompt Gloria’s return to PC? Will she be instrumental in helping Neddie (Wally Kurth) remember that he is really Ned Quartermaine and not Eddie Maine? Perhaps she will be on hand for the annual Q Christmas disaster in which everyone has a pizza by the end of the night because the turkey has been ruined. She will definitely be a welcome addition to Olivia Quartermaine’s (Lisa LoCicero) kitchen.
